Veteran Resources

Veterans Crisis Line

Free, confidential support is available 24/7 for veterans and their loved ones. You do not need to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care. Dial 988, then press 1; text 838255; or use the confidential online chat. Call 911 for an immediate threat to life or safety.

This page organizes official starting points for VA health care, disability compensation, pension and Aid and Attendance information, accredited benefits assistance, mental health resources, and whole-person well-being. QOLCS offers resource navigation and referrals; it is not the Department of Veterans Affairs and does not decide claims or clinical care.

Health-care enrollment and locations

The VA health-care application page explains how to apply for VA health care and what information may be needed. Use the VA facility locator to find medical centers, clinics, Vet Centers, and benefit offices.

Disability compensation

The official VA disability compensation page explains service-connected disability benefits, supporting evidence, and application pathways. QOLCS does not evaluate whether a condition is service connected.

Pension, Aid and Attendance, and housebound benefits

The VA pension eligibility page describes basic pension criteria. The Aid and Attendance and housebound benefits page explains possible added amounts for eligible veterans or survivors who need help with daily activities, are housebound, or meet other VA criteria.

Use accredited benefits assistance

An accredited Veterans Service Organization representative, attorney, or claims agent can help with a VA claim or decision review. The VA accredited representative search and appointment guide explains the differences. VA states that accredited VSO representation on benefit claims is always free; attorneys or claims agents may charge permitted fees.

Mental health and whole-health information

The VA mental health website provides information about care and support for veterans. The VA Whole Health program offers educational tools for discussing goals, self-care, and well-being with a VA care team. These resources do not replace professional assessment or emergency help.

QOLCS veteran connection and impact

QOLCS hosted veteran social events from 2021 through 2025 to reduce isolation, strengthen connection, and support well-being. These activities are not described as clinical treatment. QOLCS has also assisted 20 Florida veterans in navigating access to needed health-care services; no participant or private medical information is published.

Before contacting a benefits or health resource

  • Use an official VA.gov page or an accredited representative for claim-specific guidance.
  • Keep copies of forms and evidence, and note the date, office, and person you spoke with.
  • Ask what information is required before sending sensitive records.
  • Be cautious of anyone promising a guaranteed claim result, demanding passwords, or pressuring you to pay immediately.
  • Tell the organization about communication, mobility, vision, hearing, language, or caregiver-access needs.

How QOLCS can help now

QOLCS currently provides free information, resources, referrals, and appointment-based guidance while direct programs are rebuilt. We can help Tampa Bay residents identify a useful starting point, prepare questions, and locate an appropriate public agency or community resource. QOLCS does not determine program eligibility and cannot guarantee that a third-party provider will accept a referral.
