This resource center helps older adults, family caregivers, and advocates locate trustworthy starting points for aging services, benefits counseling, dementia support, inclusive aging, legal information, housing research, and long-term-care questions. QOLCS provides navigation and referrals; the listed organizations control their own programs and eligibility decisions.

Begin with local aging and disability services
Florida Department of Elder Affairs
Florida Department of Elder Affairs provides statewide aging information and a county-based search for Area Agencies on Aging and Elder Helplines. It is a useful first stop for meals, caregiver support, benefits counseling, elder-abuse prevention information, and local aging programs.
Aging and Disability Resource Center of Pasco–Pinellas
AgingCareFL.org connects Pasco and Pinellas residents with aging and disability information. Residents in other Tampa Bay counties can use the Department of Elder Affairs county search to locate the correct regional agency.
Better Living for Seniors
Better Living for Seniors offers education, networking, and community information focused on the lives of older Floridians. Review current offerings directly with the organization.
Caregiver and dementia support
Family Caregiver Alliance
Family Caregiver Alliance publishes practical caregiver education, care-planning information, and guidance about caregiver well-being.
Alzheimer’s Association
Alzheimer’s Association provides dementia education, support information, and a 24/7 helpline. It does not replace evaluation by a licensed health professional.
Inclusive aging resources
The National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging and SAGE provide education, advocacy, and community resources for LGBTQ+ older adults and those who support them. These resources can be helpful when evaluating whether a provider or residence offers respectful, affirming care.
Long-term care, housing, and legal starting points

- Medicare Care Compare — a federal comparison tool for Medicare-certified providers, including nursing homes and home health services.
- Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program — information and advocacy related to the rights and concerns of residents in long-term-care settings.
- Florida Courts guardianship resources — official general information about Florida guardianship processes.

How to use a resource list safely
- Write down the person’s county, primary need, preferred language, and accessibility requirements before calling.
- Ask whether the organization is a government agency, nonprofit, licensed provider, referral service, or commercial business.
- Confirm fees, eligibility, waiting lists, service area, and required documents directly with the provider.
- Do not email Social Security numbers, banking information, passwords, or full medical records in an initial inquiry.
- For housing or long-term care, verify current Florida licensing and inspection information rather than relying only on advertising or a referral list.

How QOLCS can help now
QOLCS currently provides free information, resources, referrals, and appointment-based guidance while direct programs are rebuilt. We can help Tampa Bay residents identify a useful starting point, prepare questions, and locate an appropriate public agency or community resource. QOLCS does not determine program eligibility and cannot guarantee that a third-party provider will accept a referral.
